Summer Water Sports

For some strange reason, fate decided that the first week of July was going to be water week. From river, to lake, to pool, to ocean, we ended up doing more water activities in the last week than we've done in that last year.

Even Sarah got in on the act, going to Mona reservoir with some friends and schooling them on how to rope swing.

If this picture doesn't perfectly capture Sarah's personality, I don't know what does.

Luckily our accident prone Sarah managed to make it through the day with no major injuries.

Unfortunately, due to work conflicts, I wasn't able to go to the beach with Suz and the kids this year (and as I remember, last year as well).

But Suz is brave and adventurous and took the kids down with her buddy Jody and her kids (her husband had to work too. I'm sensing a pattern)  and they had a good old time.

Sammy is our family selfie photographer, luckily she added in Suz and her brothers so we could get some documentation of the trip.

The weather was pretty hot, but luckily there was plenty of water.

At Gulf Shores, they have a small amusment park with race carts, water bumper boats and  a giant swing.  We've been wanting to do the giant swing for years but never seem to get around to it. So this year, when I can't make it, they finally decide to do it.  Here they are getting ready to board.

You can see by the look on Seth's face why it's taken so long to getting around to the giant swing.

The day after everyone got back from the beach was the 4th of July, which was just in time for our annual 4th of July River Float.

Here's Seth and his buddy Matthew at the launch, getting ready to go.

The ladies were getting ready as well.

Of couse, being the committed explorers that they are, they took their preparations very seriously.

The gang's all here.  We had a great turnout for the float and enjoyed having a lot of new families that hadn't joined us before.

Here's our float team.  Since we were missing Sawyer and Sarah, we added two new members.  Chase on the left and Matthew on the right.

Stopping for  lunch break after one of the riffles.

It was pretty funny to see all of our boats take up every square in of the beach whenever we stopped for a break.

After a fun day on the river, we went to our friends house and hung out at the pool.  They have to have one of the most picturesque views from their pool deck that I've ever seen. (unfortunately the picture doesn't do it justice)

Sammy tried out her water proof camera case in the pool for an underwater selfie.

We still hadn't had enough water time so the next day we went out with some friends watersking at Percy Priest.

I was able to do pretty well on the wake surfing and wake board but our friend Andy took it to another level with the air chair.  It's pretty amazing to watch.

Cliff was also an expert.  I took the opportunity of being the old man in the boat to snap a few shots.

This is why I don't do the air chair.  The wrecks look painful.
